Poor Democrats. They tried their best to trash the character of Supreme court nominee Brett Kavanaugh but, darn it, looks like he got confirmed anyway.
Those opposing Kavanaugh first said he was unfit because of an alleged sexual assault over thirty years ago at the age of 17.
These critics then proceeded to say he was unfit because of his demeanor at the hearings which portrayed him as being “angry”
The last ditch argument was that 30 years ago he threw a glass of ice and drink at someone in a fit of anger.
I can imagine some of the squirrelly democrats thinking “Hallelujah, We have him now.Let’s start an “Ice Cube Gate” investigation.
Lets start with the alleged sexual assault. The piece written by Margot Cleveland in USA Today is an excellent article that breaks down the huge gaps in the testimony of Christine Blasey Ford.
Basically the article details the many examples of how Ford changed her testimony only after being proven wrong that it couldn’t have happened as she said it did.
Susan Collins (R-ME) Explains
Then there is Senator Susan Collins, a crucial swing vote who gave a long intelligent, methodical and comprehensive explanation of why she was going to vote for Kavanaugh.
The democrats now want her head on a plate. Or at least want her seat as the headline on CNN blared that efforts to unseat Collins are well underway.
Imagine the nerve of Collins, a woman not believing another woman. Actually that’s not exactly the case.
Something may have happened to Kavanaugh’s accuser, Christine Blasey Ford, as stated by Senator Collins but simply there was very little evidence to support her claim.
Maybe the women Collins did believe were the 65 women that have known Kavanaugh through work and school and wrote a letter in support of the nominee.
As for Kavanaugh being angry during questioning of the alleged incident, well who wouldn’t be angry if they were accused of attempted rape and knew the allegation was false?
The Reason for Kavanaugh’s Anger
If a defendant becomes angry while being grilled because they know the accusation is false I would understand this anger. I don’t care what position there were being evaluated for. .Especially as something as ugly as this allegation,
Then there was the ice cube incident. Thirty five years ago ice cubes were thrown at someone. Are we now in an age where thirty five years ago a cup of ice thrown at someone can come back and haunt a person and wreck a career?
Then there is Christine Blasey Ford.
As most people now know she was portrayed as a “party girl” in her high school year book. We now know her online yearbook was scrubbed clean of anything that reflected bad on her.
(Now why didn’t Kavanaugh take steps to erase anything negative about himself in his yearbook?)
This is the same girl who was drinking at 15 but never mind that. Brett Kavanaugh was drinking at the age of 17 in the time frame she presented.
Maybe alcohol and time could be the reason both could be telling the truth as they remember it as I explain in an earlier post.
Women and Men are Not Treated Equal in Sexual Assault Cases
Defenders of women that allege sexual assault say past drinking or sexual behavior in no way invalidates a report of sexual assault and in fact some states have “rape shield laws” in place to prevent the past history of these women being made public.
Fine but shouldn’t that apply to men also? The whole bulk of the character assassination against Kavanaugh was his past behavior over thirty years ago.
So on one hand it’s fine and dandy to bring up the past behavior of a man but not a woman?
When Ford came out with the accusations I had an open mind and thought the nomination was doomed .
As time went on and more news came out the whole thing started to smell. The way Ford’s letter was leaked , the timing and then the gaps in her story.
There are groups and women that will believe any allegation a woman makes against a man no matter the circumstances. That is a fact. I had no problem seeing the nomination fail if there was evidence against Kavanaugh.
On the scales of justice I think there is much more concrete evidence against Ford then Kavanaugh.
Ford’s radical supporters immediately believed her and still do and nothing will change their minds.
